“She’s got you wrapped around her little finger“

”She sure knows how to get what she wants”

I have started hearing people say these things to me recently and it has made me question whether it really is possible to spoil someone who has only been on the planet for six months.

I mean surely she can’t have learnt the art of manipulation already?! She definitely knows what she wants and when she wants it and yes if she doesn’t get it then she will cry until she does (even if its just that she is bored of playing after 5 mins and wants to be held instead) but surely that’s just because she doesn’t know how to talk yet. I mean how frustrated would we be if we wanted something but didn’t know how to ask for it?!

Obviously there are times when it would be useful if she could learn to have a little patience especially if she suddenly wants picking up during the middle of me cooking dinner or when I’m halfway home from town with shopping but how can you teach patience to someone that can’t even understand what you say to them?! I mean if she takes after her father then she will still be lacking patience by the time she’s nearly 30!

So I am going to carry on doing what she wants and when she wants it because I just can’t believe that she is some manipulative genius, and if she is then go her!

Check posts in 3 years time to see how badly I might regret writing this!!

Hehe, I don’t think you can spoil a child from too many cuddles or too much picking up. Love her pic, little smiler! :)

I had all this off the OH’s parents. It’s utter rubbish! Babies need cuddles and to be held lots, plus the only way they can communicate is through crying. It’s not manipulation it’s survival. It’s nonsense to think that you will spoil your child by cuddling them or sleeping with them – how many 15 year olds do you know who still sleep in their parents’ bed and scream for cuddles??? People just have to have an opinion, on everything. So just smile and nod and say what they want to hear, and then do whatever you like! It’s none of their business!!x
