Dear Little Iyla Cherry, on the 1st of February you will be 15 months old and I wanted to write you this letter because I have so much that I want you know. The last few weeks have seen you change such a lot, your character is coming out more and more each day and it is such a pleasure to be in your company.
You are communicating so well, you’ve progressed from just saying words and you now can answer questions and tell us what you want. Some of the favourites at the moment are us asking you want you want to wear and you running into your room and coming back with a handful of your clothes – admittedly you need a bit of help with choosing the clothes, two tops and a jumper don’t really make a suitable outfit but we make you do it over and over again because it makes us laugh so much.
You have just started pronouncing the end of the words that you say, instead of mil and dow you now say milk and dog but where you concentrate so much on the end it sounds more like milka and doga. It’s adorable.
You point at everything and say ‘look’.
You have just started answering ‘YEAH’ when I ask you a question. You say it with so much enthusiasm.
You kiss everything. Your toys, your bike, the kitchen cupboards and us which is the loveliest thing ever. You even make the little kiss noise when you do it.
You love your dog cushion, when I am hoovering and put it up on the sofa you start crying whilst trying to pull him back down again.
When the songs on CBeebies are being played you shout out the last word from each sentence, your favourite programmes are In The Night Garden and Waybuloo. You know who all the characters are and when you see Upsy Daisy you scream it in the highest pitch ever.
You say ‘hi’ about a million times each day and when you wake up in the morning you stand up shouting it until we come and get you!
You have a muslin cloth that you are attached to, you call it ‘muzzi’ and you won’t sleep without it. The other night they were all dirty and I tried to trick you with a sheet but you knew straight away and sat up crying until I went and got you ‘muzzi’.
When we tell you no, you stick your bottom lip out and start crying whilst pulling the saddest face in the whole world, you know we fall for it every time and give you what you want!
You can nearly count to ten although your favourites are ’2′ and ’8′ and you say those much more than the others.
I could go on forever because every single thing you do makes me so proud to be your mummy. Not a day goes by where I don’t stare at you in amazement. My brain just can’t comprehend the fact that I created you. I love you more than anything, I didn’t think it would be possible to love you any more than I did when you were born but it just keeps on growing. Every new thing that you do leads to another explosion of love inside of me.
Me and Daddy were speaking last night about how much you have changed our lives for the better, he was so scared about becoming a daddy. He didn’t think it was what he wanted but from the moment he saw you he melted and became devoted to you. He is such a good daddy and you love him so much. When you hear the key in the door you jump and start running towards him.
You are amazing and that’s all I can say.
I look forward to every day that I spend with you.
Lots of love mummy xxxxx

Awww what a gorgeous post!! She is such a little star, i love how she picks her clothes. I’ve never thought of doing that with z but I might try it with him soon. I love watching what he does every day and it’s like magic isn’t it? They do things they haven’t even been taught. Yesterday he learnt how to slide off our bed safely and we just watches him open mouthed!

Ahhhh, what a lovely letter to your clever little girl. Can’t believe how quickly she is coming along now, and how adorable and funny she sounds. I know exactly what you mean about the love growing, I adored my little guy from the first second but I am so much more in love with him now. I think it’s the fact that as they get bigger they can start to show you that they love you back, and that just melts my heart. X

Awww…what a lovely post. She will love reading that back when she is older. Ruby is into kissing everything, including us at the moment too. It’so sweet isn’t it. She also loves Waybaloo, will have to get her one of those dolls! x
The great thing about this post is that it acts as a record of all the sweet things Iyla is doing at the moment. They change so quickly and how easily we forget unless we write it down! I was just thinking as I read it that I don’t want to forget the way Talitha babbles in the morning and how she used to fully stick out her lower lip before bawling. Thanks for reminding me to store up these precious memories somehow.
