Music

My ipod stopped charging a few months ago and I thought it had died forever but amazingly it came back to life today. I’ve just been lying in bed listening to it while pretending to clean the bathroom and I had forgotten just how much of an impact music can have on your mood and how much of a journey through your past it can take you on.

I went from being reflective (Bon Ivor) to feeling like I can take on the world on my own (Fleetwood Mac, Go Your Own Way).
Leanne Rhymes, How Do I Live Without You takes me right back to being 13 and feeling like my world had ended because a boy didn’t fancy me anymore (that boy is now Dad2BabyInsomniac!).

Its amazing how a song can trigger so many memories and take you flying through your past at a million miles an hour. It can improve your mood, I mean who can’t feel empowered after belting their heart out to Bonnie Tylers, Total Eclipse Of The Heart?! There is equally nothing better than listening to sad songs when you are feeling miserable and wallowing in self-pity.

Then I have songs that are guaranteed to bring a tear to my eye because of memories they hold (Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here).
Rather embarrassingly Cheryl Coles Parachutes can make me sob anytime I hear it because of what was going on in my life at the time.
As can Adeles, Someone Like You just because it is such a beautiful song.

The Eagles make me feel like I’m a hillbilly living on an American ranch.
Even rubbish songs can hold and trigger a memory for the rest of someones life. Jason Donovans, Sealed With A Kiss can take me right back to being 4 and crying because my dad was going away to work even now, 23 years later!

Want to share any of your music memories?!

I have too many. One right now that brings me happiness is dancing to my Whigfield CD as I got ready to head out to the bar for a night of dancing! Yes, I really was the chick on the dance floor from the time the bar opened until the bar closed lol

Bye Bye Baby – Bay City Rollers reminds me of a summer holiday at my mothers. Red Light Spells Danger – Billy Ocean reminds me of my first serious boyfriend.
Campfire songs like Wild Rover remind me of Scouting and also my Dad who loved to sing.
