I’ve been having a bit of a blog identity crisis this week.

I felt like I needed a change, initially I thought about changing my blog name. I questioned whether it still worked now that Iyla is no longer a baby or an insomniac but then I realised that I would be sad to see it go, plus I have worked hard to build my blog up to where it is now so I don’t really want to go back to square one again.

So then I had another think before coming up with an idea for a new project. I am still going to be mainly working on Mum2BabyInsomniac because I love writing about Iyla and building up a record of her life but there is one area that I have a special interest in…

It’s what all these posts have in common -

The Big Question

Does Having A Baby Change Your Relationship?

Not Like The Romance Movies

Can you guess yet?!

If you haven’t then the topic I am talking about is relationships. I love reading about them, hearing about them, talking about them and of course I love writing about them.

As you know I’m in a relationship with Dad2BabyInsomniac, I’m secure and happy in it and I know that I am prepared to fight all the way for us to be together forever but I’m happy to admit that we have to stop and reassess things every now and again. Almost like a car, we need to regularly service our relationship and if something becomes a problem then we fix it before it leads to a more serious problem. The aim being that with the right care and attention we can hopefully keep it going forever (Dad2BabyInsomniac used to be a mechanic, this is why I compare everything to cars!).

Anyway where I am going with this is that I am a believer in lasting love. I, like most women out there want the perfect romance, although when I say perfect I mean realistically perfect. Not like most celebrities who give up as soon as the honeymoon phase is over.

So I am setting up a new blog project called - The Perfect Romance Experiment.

It is going to be all about relationships. I have lots of ideas, one being to get a group of women together (including myself obviously!) and come up with fortnightly / monthly challenges to try in our relationships. Things such as introducing a new romantic gesture, trying to stop one of our annoying habits, making sure we say one carefully worded sentence to our lovers each day….this will be open to suggestions! Then anyone who has joined in can give their feedback and we can start seeing what effect it has had.

I will also be looking for people to guest post with their relationship stories as well as looking at issues like cheating, marriage and how often you say those three magic words!

I would also love to hear from anyone who is happily single and who wouldn’t want to be in a relationship, perfect or not!

And you don’t have to be a blogger, anyone can get involved!

So there we have it, my new project.

THE PERFECT ROMANCE EXPERIMENT – COMING SOON!

I am also now going to be in charge of the relationships category on Love All Blogs so if you want to join in with the weekly showcase then get blogging!

I think this is a fab idea hun and I would be happy to help and contribute to it once you have got it up and running. Spending time together is so important especially after having a baby. I am a sucker for romance and the perfect love story and am incredibly lucky in that my husband is very very romantic and so incredibly lovely- however I am not so- I am be a bit selfish and so would love challenges to look after him for a change!

    Good luck. Xx

I think this sounds like a fantastic idea hun and I would love to help you in any way I can. I am a sucker for a bit of the old romance and the perfect love story and I am very lucky that Mr E is a good old romantic and very very caring and loving, but I on the other hand could do with some work in that department- I have got a very good one and I need to treat him for a change!

Good luck with it all and it sounds brill, like I said if you need any help then do let me know. xx

What a great idea..will look forward to reading more soon and happy to participate! I love all that stuff too. I think you would love this book : The Sex Diaries by Bertina Arndt check it out: http://www.bettinaarndt.com.au/books/the-sex-diaries.php
I read it at a time when we were going through a bit of strife and it made me realise we were just like any other couple. It’s such a fun, but fasinating read I learnt so much about relationships. :-)

Ooh I’d sign up Actually Daddy!
Seriously though, I think it’s a great idea. But will you consider having anonymous contributions like Blogonymous? I think lots of people may have a story to share, but don’t necessarily want to admit to it publicly. I would probably join in if you did.

Oh, I’m in. I’m looking forward to reading and am well up for guest posting. Romance after children can be tricky but so satisfying as well. This is something I’ve been thinking about quite a bit too. Romance does not come as naturally to me as it does to some. The best things require work, I suppose.
