On Monday I spent the day finishing off painting my living room and bathroom, luckily I managed to finish it because my morning sickness kicked in the day after and I would have been left with a half-painted house! Iyla also slept in her big girl’s bed for the first time, I had been really worried about it but she went straight to sleep and didn’t wake up until 8am the next morning, which is later than she normally sleeps in the morning!
On Tuesday I went to meet a few of my friends at a messy play session. Iyla, who never normally likes getting messy, decided to get right in the big pit of shaving foam and cover herself from head to toe which meant like by the time I took her home she smelt like an old man!
On Wednesday, Dad2BabyInsomiac’s sister, mum and nephews came over for lunch. Then in the afternoon we went swimming, to a local outdoor pool. The weather wasn’t very nice which meant that it was pretty much empty and Iyla loved it. It’s the first time we have taken her this year but I am definitely going to make more of an effort to take her in future.
On Thursday I made a little announcement about the fact that I am pregnant, I’m only six weeks so still early but it is very exciting. I didn’t feel very well so I spent most the day on the sofa.
On Friday I went into work for a meeting in the morning then came back and laid on the sofa all day. I had forgotten how horrible morning sickness is, I am just so glad that Dad2BabyInsomniac is still home as I don’t know how I would manage otherwise. Iyla had a two hour nap in the late afternoon so after putting her to bed, I ended up bringing her back down again as she was wide awake. She stayed up until 10pm running around like a nutter! This is her looking very pleased with herself!
On Saturday, Dad2BabyInsomniac went to drive his car around a track in the morning so I had to try and entertain Iyla without being sick everywhere. In the evening one of our friends came over and we got a takeaway pizza so we didn’t have to cook. Iyla who had already eaten her dinner, kept coming and stealing all the crusts!
On Sunday, I didn’t feel too bad so we went and had lunch in a garden centre where Dad2BabyInsomniac’s mum works. Then we came back and chilled out for the rest of the day.

Hope the sickness passes soon and you get all your energy back. We’re wondering whether to take the sides off Zs cot soon, as he’s always trying to climb out of it!

All in all a very exciting week. I am really nervous about putting Mads in her big girls bed, we haven’t bought one yet, but the idea fills me with dread as I can just imagine her jumping out, suffocating under the duvet and not sleeping her usual twelve hours a night!
